Memorial Assembly of the United Nations General Assembly for Martyr Raisi

According to the international group Tasnim news agency, Dennis Francis, President of the United Nations General Assembly, in a statement that In his panel published on the United Nations website, he announced the holding of a memorial ceremony in the General Assembly in honor of Ayatollah Seyed Ibrahim Raisi, the martyred president of Iran. 10 local time and will be held in the main hall of the United Nations General Assembly.

On Sunday, the president of Iran had traveled to East Azarbaijan province to open the Qizqaleh Si border dam, and the helicopter carrying him was on the way back. An accident occurred in Tabriz in “Dizmar Forest” in the general area between Varzeghan and Jolfa in East Azerbaijan province. As a result of this incident, the president and the foreign minister of Iran were martyred.

In the statement of Dennis Francis, it is stated: “I am proud to inform the United Nations General Assembly at 10 am on May 30, 2024, in the Assembly Hall, a general session for Honoring the memory of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, His Excellency Seyed Ebrahim Raisi will be held.”

Before that, the United Nations General Assembly will honor Ayatollah Seyed Ebrahim Raisi, the martyred president of Iran, and his companions, including Minister Hossein Amir Abdullahian. Iran’s Foreign Ministry held a minute of silence in the helicopter crash. 

Before this, the UN Security Council remained silent in respect of the martyred Iranian president and foreign minister and their companions in the helicopter crash, and the UN flag was also lowered to half-mast. 

Also, ambassadors and representatives of more than 50 countries have paid their respects to the martyred Iranian president and foreign minister by signing the memorial book at the place of Iran’s representation in the United Nations.
