The US court overturned Biden’s order to ban the export of liquefied natural gas

A Louisiana court overturned a ban on liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports ordered by the Joe Biden administration.

The district court of the state of Louisiana in the United States overturned the ban on the export of liquefied natural gas (LNG) imposed by the administration of US President Joe Biden.

According to Pravda, the court said in its verdict: “The court has the right of the petitioner to lift the ban on LNG exports before the trial, and accordingly, the court agrees to the request for immediate and complete cancellation of the ban on LNG exports.”

It is noted that 16 states signed a lawsuit to overturn the ban.

In June of this year, it was reported that Russia, which is under sanctions, has surpassed America in terms of supplying natural gas to Europe in the last two years. Russia exported more gas to Europe than the United States in September 2022, and as of 2023, US LNG imports to European countries accounted for 20% of all gas.  This country exported 8.6 million tons in December and 88.9 million tons in 2023, which is 14.7% more than in 2022.

According to the statistics of the US government, Europe was the first destination of US LNG exports in December and 5.43 million tons of LNG were exported to this continent, which constitutes 60% of the total US LNG shipments.

Nearly 70% of US LNG exports went to Europe in November. Europe has become the first importer of American LNG after the war in Ukraine and the reduction of gas imports from Russia.
