Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, who traveled to Moscow and met with Russian President Vladimir Putin amid opposition from European officials, announced that he plans to hold several meetings next week, and these meetings “will It will be as unexpected.

According to Sputnik, the Prime Minister of Hungary, whose country holds the rotating presidency of the European Union from the beginning of this month until the end of 2024, went on a surprise and unannounced trip to Russia yesterday. The visit was strongly criticized by the European authorities to the extent that Josep Borrell, the EU foreign policy official, wrote on the X social network: “Viktor Orban’s visit to Moscow takes place exclusively within the framework of bilateral relations between Hungary and Russia… Therefore, “The Prime Minister of Hungary is not a representative of the European Union in any way.” Shortly after, Orban reacted to the European Union’s criticism of his visit to Moscow and said that the “absurd bureaucracy of Brussels” has not achieved anything to resolve the war between Russia and Ukraine.

Orban, who has always been one of the opponents of EU sanctions against Russia, announced after this meeting that he has taken the first step to revive the dialogue between Russia and Ukraine.

This Hungarian official also went to Ukraine last week and met with Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of this country. After the meeting, Orban stated that he offered Zelensky a ceasefire to start negotiations with Russia.
