Egyptian Foreign Minister Emphasizes Resumption of Iran-US Talks

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, in a call with his Omani counterpart, stressed the urgent need to de-escalate tensions and revive diplomatic efforts, particularly advocating for the resumption of negotiations between Iran and the United States.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry held a phone conversation with Oman’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bader Al-Busaidi. During the call, Shoukry underscored the priority of halting escalations and avoiding any actions that could fuel tensions and threaten regional security and stability.

He pointed to the necessity of allowing diplomatic endeavors to address the root causes of crises. In this regard, the Egyptian Foreign Minister emphasized the importance of returning to negotiations between the United States and Iran, following the Islamabad agreement, and utilizing it as a framework for resolving outstanding issues through dialogue and negotiation.

The foreign ministers of Egypt and Oman also discussed developments in the Strait of Hormuz and their implications for regional security and the global economy. They emphasized the need to maintain maritime security and safety, ensure the smooth flow of trade, and guarantee energy supply.
