Greek Air Force F-4 Phantom Jet Crashes During Air Show Near Athens

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a Greek Air Force F-4 Phantom fighter jet crashed on Saturday during an air show at Tanagra Air Base, located near Athens. The incident was reported by a Greek Air Force official to Reuters news agency.

Video footage released by state broadcaster ERT, which was the first to report on the incident, showed a column of black smoke rising from a few hundred meters away from the air show spectators. Two helicopters were observed at the crash site engaged in firefighting efforts.

The official stated that the fate of the pilots is currently unknown and it is unclear whether any spectators at the event sustained injuries. Search and rescue operations are in progress.

ERT reported that loudspeakers at the air base instructed the public to evacuate the area of the incident.
