Spokesperson of the US State Department: We will continue to implement sanctions against Iran

The spokesperson of the US State Department announced: Washington continues to implement all its sanctions against Iran, including sanctions due to human rights violations.

On Thursday, local time, in response to a reporter’s question about the reasons for the non-implementation of the so-called Mahsa law and the continuation of Washington’s interference in the internal affairs of countries, especially the Islamic Republic of Iran, under the pretext of human rights, Matthew Miller, the spokesperson of the US State Department, said: We actively enforce the law as passed by Congress and signed by the President.

He said: “We are currently working seriously on the report on human rights violations in Iran and will present it to Congress as soon as it is ready,” but due to some issues, we have not been able to meet the deadline. .

The bill “Accountability for Human Rights and Security of Mehsa Amini” bill, known as “Mahsa Law” was signed into law by US President Joe Biden on May 5, 1403.

According to this American law, the Department of State of the United States of America has 90 days after its approval in its first report to the Congress (Senate and House of Representatives) of this country to determine whether the criteria set in the law as ” “Human rights violator” includes senior officials of the Islamic Republic or not, and if the answer is positive, introduce these people.

The so-called Mehsa law was drafted and approved under the pretext of protecting the human rights of Iranians following the death of “Mehsa Amini” and to sanction the senior officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran and their affiliated individuals and institutions.

In response to another question, the spokesperson of the US Foreign Ministry said, “Does the US understand and indicate that Iran has supported the protests against Netanyahu?” He said: We have always said that Iran supported protests in America, but we do not mean all protests and most of the protests in America are spontaneous, this is one of the main features of our democracy.
