USA

Anthony Blinken, the US Secretary of State, said: “We recently saw the announcement of the Venezuelan Election Commission. We are seriously concerned that the announced result does not reflect the will or the votes of the Venezuelan people.”

Blinken also said in a press conference in Tokyo just before the start of voting in this South American country that the United States and the international community will closely monitor this voting.

Blinken said: “The United States does not prejudge the outcome. This is a choice that Venezuelans must make, but the Venezuelan people deserve an election that truly reflects their will, away from manipulation.”

American officials have said that they will adjust their sanctions policy against Venezuela with the way the elections are held.

Reacting to Maduro’s election victory, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel said: “Nicolas Maduro, my brother, your victory, which belongs to the Bolivarian and Chavista people, has clearly and unequivocally defeated the pro-imperialist opposition. .”
