Aircraft carrying weapons to Sudan seized in UAE
UAE Claims to have Seized Private Plane Carrying Weapons Bound for sudanese Army During Refueling Stop
The UAE Attorney General announced on Wednesday that a plane carrying weapons destined for the Sudanese army had been seized in the country. According to a report by the English section of “Webangah News Agency,” citing Mehr News Agency and WAM, Emirati security forces thwarted an illegal attempt to transport approximately 5 million pieces of military ammunition to Sudan.
The UAE prosecution claimed that the weapons shipment, intended for the Sudanese army, was confiscated at one of it’s airports aboard a private aircraft arriving from a foreign country during a refueling stop. Simultaneously, authorities reported dismantling an “illegal arms smuggling network” allegedly linked to commanders within Sudan’s military.
The UAE has provided military, political, and arms support to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), paramilitary groups fighting against Sudan’s official army. Previously, the Sudanese army—recognized as the state’s legitimate force—had reported intercepting and neutralizing weapon shipments destined for UAE-backed militias in Sudan.
