South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency Reports Resignation of Acting President

According to the English section of webangah ⁣News Agency,citing Mehr News ⁤Agency and reuters,Han ⁣Duck-soo,South Korea’s acting president,has resigned from his ⁢position.

Yonhap reported that Han Duck-soo is set to run in ​South Korea’s early elections scheduled for June 3.

The South Korean prime minister, who had been serving as acting president while retaining his role, stated:⁤ “I ‌ultimately decided to resign from‍ my​ position to do what I can to overcome the crisis we are ⁢facing.”

Han Duck-soo was required to resign ​by May 4 to participate ⁢in the June 3 elections.‍ Choo Sang-mook, ⁣South Korea’s deputy ‌prime minister, is likely ​to replace⁤ Han Duck-soo as acting president.

Meanwhile, South ‍Korea’s Supreme Court today ⁣overturned ‌a preliminary ruling against ‌ Lee Jae-myung, the leading presidential candidate. The initial ruling had cleared⁢ Myung ⁤of charges related to election law⁣ violations.
