According to a report by the English section of Webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and the Iraqi news agency Waa, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani stated that Iraq will not only host the Arab Summit but will also play a pioneering role in proposing solutions to regional crises and challenges.
The Iraqi Prime Minister emphasized: “We have distinguished and prominent relations with both Iran and the U.S., and dialog between these two countries is a crucial step. The success of negotiations between Iran and the U.S. will not only affect regional countries but particularly impact Iraq, as Iraq has faced challenges due to strained relations between these two nations.”
He further noted: “We have prosperous security experience between Iraq and the U.S. within the framework of leading the international coalition against ISIS. The third round of talks between Iraq and the U.S. is expected to take place in Baghdad to finalize a joint framework for security cooperation.”
Asserting that Iraq can never be subordinate to any country, al-Sudani said: “Iraq is a point of convergence, not an arena for conflict.”
the Prime Minister also referenced his father’s execution, along with five other family members, during the Iran-Iraq war under Saddam Hussein’s former regime.
Al-Sudani stressed that the palestinian issue remains at the root of crises in the Middle East, adding that now is time for a fundamental solution to be implemented.
