China Urges India and Pakistan to Avoid Escalating ⁢Tensions

The Chinese Foreign Ministry issued a statement calling on India and⁤ Pakistan to refrain from escalating ‌tensions.

According ⁤to ⁣the English⁢ section of ⁢the Webangah News ‍Agency, citing mehr News Agency ⁣and France ⁤24, as tensions between India and​ Pakistan intensify—raising fears ​of a full-scale war—beijing urged the two nuclear-armed ‌nations to⁢ exercise restraint.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry’s statement read: “We⁣ strongly⁣ urge India and Pakistan to prioritize​ peace and stability,maintain calm and restraint,return to the path of political resolution through​ peaceful means,and avoid ​any actions that could escalate‍ tensions.”

Tensions between​ New delhi and Islamabad flared ⁣following ⁤last month’s attack on a group of tourists⁤ in Pahalgam, located in Indian-administered ‌Kashmir, which resulted in 26 deaths.‌ India has accused its neighbor of “cross-border ‌terrorism,” ​ while Pakistan denies⁣ any involvement in ‌the ⁢incident.
