Beijing strongly urges avoiding escalation of tensions between India and Pakistan
China Urges India and Pakistan to Avoid Escalating Tensions
The Chinese Foreign Ministry issued a statement calling on India and Pakistan to refrain from escalating tensions.
According to the English section of the Webangah News Agency, citing mehr News Agency and France 24, as tensions between India and Pakistan intensify—raising fears of a full-scale war—beijing urged the two nuclear-armed nations to exercise restraint.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry’s statement read: “We strongly urge India and Pakistan to prioritize peace and stability, maintain calm and restraint, return to the path of political resolution through peaceful means, and avoid any actions that could escalate tensions.”
Tensions between New delhi and Islamabad flared following last month’s attack on a group of tourists in Pahalgam, located in Indian-administered Kashmir, which resulted in 26 deaths. India has accused its neighbor of “cross-border terrorism,” while Pakistan denies any involvement in the incident.
