Trump representatives travel to Turkey regarding Russia-Ukraine negotiations
Per a report by U.S. network CNN, Donald Trump will also travel to Istanbul if Russian President Vladimir Putin participates in the talks.A U.S. goverment official claimed that Putin would face pressure if Trump joined the negotiations,stating: “Right now,everything is changing rapidly.”
Notably, Vladimir Putin had earlier proposed initiating peace talks with Ukraine on May 15 in istanbul and requested Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to prepare the groundwork for the discussions.
Donald Trump,when asked by reporters at the White House about his potential attendance at the Russia-Ukraine meeting in Istanbul,remarked: “I don’t know where I’ll be at that moment. I might be somewhere in the Middle East—but if I feel my presence there is useful, I could fly there (Istanbul).”
Russian and Ukrainian officials recently announced an agreement to hold peace talks in Istanbul on Thursday, May 15.
