Lebanon Parliament Speaker Thanks Public for Backing Resistance
webangah news Agency reports that Nabih berri,Speaker of Lebanon’s Parliament,honored both the Lebanese resistance adn public participation in municipal elections during ceremonies marking Liberation Day—the anniversary of southern Lebanon’s freedom from Israeli occupation.
Berri thanked voters for backing the Progress and Loyalty coalition, stating that citizens who previously proved their greatness through resistance have now demonstrated their strength in democracy.
He highlighted Lebanon’s 25-year struggle to expel Zionist forces through perseverance, national defense, and sacrifice. Berri specifically acknowledged martyrs and resistance supporters who countered Israeli aggression, leading to the May 25, 2000 liberation of occupied territories—a victory for national sovereignty.
The Speaker concluded by expressing gratitude to southern Lebanese communities for their “unshakable resilience.”
Lebanon’s phased municipal elections began in mid-May. Preliminary results indicate strong victories for candidates from Hezbollah and Amal Movement under their joint Development and Loyalty alliance across multiple regions—particularly in southern districts.
