Israeli occupation forces face tens of billions in budget deficit as Gaza war drags on

Zionist newspaper Haaretz reports: Assessments indicate that ‍if the⁣ war in Gaza continues, the⁢ occupiers’ budget deficit could surge‍ by tens of billions.

The Zionist‍ newspaper Haaretz reported that the resumption of‍ war in the Gaza Strip has caused a massive budget deficit, estimated between 15 to 25 billion shekels (4 to 7 billion dollars), according to webangah News Agency.

The⁢ newspaper‍ added that all proposed budgetary ⁣assumptions for the fiscal year‌ indicate‍ unfavorable conditions, with‍ the deficit ⁤perhaps leading to tax hikes, reduced ⁢social services, and increased financial shortfalls.

haaretz emphasized that the deficit stems from reserve troop ⁣mobilization, extended mandatory service⁣ periods, and⁢ ammunition procurement—raising concerns over ⁣unmet defense costs. Currently, israel’s Finance Ministry and War Ministry‌ are trading accusations during budget review meetings.

The Hebrew-language outlet concluded‌ that assessments suggest Gaza’s prolonged conflict could expand the deficit by tens of billions.
