India Gripped by New COVID Wave
Media reports indicate a new wave of COVID-19 infections has begun in India.
According to webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al-Khaleej, India has recorded over 4,400 new COVID-19 cases as a fresh infection wave emerges.
Goverment hospitals across India have been placed on high alert following the detection of 300 new cases within the past 24 hours.
Medical sources attribute the surge to highly transmissible new Omicron subvariants.The states of Kerala and Maharashtra report the highest caseloads, with Maharashtra recording four deaths in a single day.
