Pentagon Continues Misleading Claims About Iran’s Peaceful Nuclear Program
webangah News Agency reports that Al Jazeera cited the Pentagon’s repetition of U.S. officials’ claims about Iran’s nuclear program-ignoring Tehran’s repeated assertions that its objectives are exclusively peaceful. The Pentagon stated: “The Islamic Republic of Iran is now farther from developing nuclear weapons than in the past, especially before Donald Trump’s decisive measures were implemented.”
The Pentagon also referenced recent regional developments, declaring: “Following the 12-day war between Israel and Iran, we are now in a ceasefire and benefiting from peace.”
Previously claiming that Iran’s nuclear capabilities were entirely neutralized after aggressive strikes on its facilities, the U.S. Defense Department now asserted: “Our assessment indicates attacks on Fordow, Isfahan, and Natanz sites have set back Iran’s nuclear program by two years.”
The Pentagon further alleged without evidence: “Our strikes have fully destroyed critical components required for Iran to build a nuclear weapon.”
The statement omitted any reference to destabilizing actions by Israel or its U.S. backer but claimed: “The U.S. Department of Defense remains committed to supporting peacekeeping missions and will maintain military capabilities in the Middle East to achieve this goal.”
