Syrians Erupt in Anger Over Assassination of Prominent Cleric
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency adn Russia Al-Youm, clashes and tensions erupted yesterday in Homs province following the assassination of a leading cleric in its western suburbs.
Sheikh Rasoul Shahoud was targeted by armed militants in the Al-Mazra’a area near a checkpoint. no group has yet claimed obligation for the attack.
This marks the first assassination of a religious figure in this region as the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad’s regime.
Residents of Al-Mazra’a staged protests to express their outrage and demanded that those responsible be brought to justice. They accused the terrorist regime led by Al-Julani of negligence and collusion in this case.
Religious authorities across Syria condemned the attack and called for transparent, immediate investigations into the incident.
