Bodies of Kidnapped Passengers Found in Pakistan’s Balochistan Mountains
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Reuters, Pakistani officials have found the bodies of nine passengers abducted by armed assailants during a string of bus attacks in Balochistan’s mountainous region.
No group has claimed responsibility, but separatist militants from the Baloch Liberation Army have been involved in similar assaults.
Pakistani official Naveed Alam reported that the bodies showed gunshot wounds and were discovered last night in the mountains. Government spokesperson Shahid Rand previously stated that passengers were seized yesterday afternoon from two separate buses.
Reuters noted that Pakistani security forces had foiled three insurgent attacks earlier yesterday before these kidnappings occurred. Rand accused neighboring India of supporting rebel militants.
New Delhi has dismissed Islamabad’s allegations that India funds, trains, and backs militant groups aimed at destabilizing the region.
