Aoun’s Latest Position on Normalizing Relations with the Zionist Regime
According to the English section of webangah News Agency,citing Mehr News Agency and Al jazeera,Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said today (Friday) before a delegation from the Arab and International Relations Council in Beirut that normalizing relations with Israel is not currently part of Lebanon’s foreign policy agenda.
Aoun further stated that the government’s exclusive authority over weapons is a final decision with no possibility of reversal.
The President also emphasized Beirut’s desire to establish strong ties with Syria. He added that there is coordination between security agencies of both countries concerning border stability, noting that Lebanon’s stability equates to Syria’s stability.
He highlighted ongoing Israeli occupation of parts of Lebanon and Israel’s violations of international resolutions. He noted these Israeli actions complicate the implementation of UN Resolution 1701 and act as sources of instability in southern Lebanon, Beirut’s Dahieh district, and othre areas vulnerable to Israeli attacks.
