Alsudani: Our Relationship with Iran Is Strategic
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, Mohammed Shia Al Sudani, Iraq’s Prime Minister, told Asharq Al-Awsat: “Everyone knows that Netanyahu has not adhered to any ceasefire, neither in Gaza nor in Lebanon. It is natural that he might carry out further aggressions against Iran.”
He added, “There is a serious willingness on Iran’s part to reach an agreement that guarantees its interests. There is no decision to acquire nuclear weapons.”
Al Sudani emphasized,”Our relationship with the Islamic Republic of Iran is a strategic partnership.”
Speaking about recent developments, Al Sudani said: “After the events of October 7 and what followed as aggression against Lebanon, the changes occurring in Syria, and then aggression against Iran, speculations about the region’s future under these ongoing developments have emerged prominently.Aggression toward Gaza and Lebanon continues; discussions about organizing Gaza’s situation are ongoing; Israeli influence in Syria persists. We are also discussing a ceasefire between Israel and Iran. Therefore, we do not face a steady political path for shaping regional balances and relations.”
