US Fails to Intercept Iranian Missiles Targeting Israel
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, James Kilby, deputy commander of US naval operations, told Business Insider that the US Navy has deployed a significant amount of it’s air defence ammunition in the Middle East.
He emphasized that the volume of expensive interceptor missiles used exceeded expectations for both the Navy and US missile defense industries.
The American outlet adds that in response to recent Iranian missile attacks on the occupied territories, the US Navy engaged advanced SM-3 missiles. Each missile is valued between $10 million and $30 million.
Business Insider also highlighted that as October 2023, US ships have sought to counter hundreds of missile and drone attacks from Yemeni armed forces using these costly interceptors.
The report states that following clashes in the Red Sea, the US Navy aims to narrow the gap between air defense spending and costs associated with current and future operational threats against its forces.
