Russia Launches Overnight Attack on Ukraine with Over 300 Drones and 30 Missiles
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the continuation of Russian nighttime attacks on Ukraine. He stated that Moscow targeted several areas in eastern Ukraine with drone and missile strikes last night.
Zelensky posted on his Telegram channel that the Russian attacks hit regions including Donetsk,Kirovohrad,Dnipro,Sumy,Kherson,Volynska,Zaporizhzhia,Mykolaivka,Odessa, and Zhytomyrska.
He reported significant damage to critical infrastructure in the Sumy region leading to widespread power outages.
The president also claimed six people were injured and one was killed during these assaults. Zelensky once again urged Ukraine’s allies to implement their agreements without delay.
He emphasized that weapons production-including investment in drone manufacturing within Ukraine-especially interceptor drones; deployment of air defense systems and missiles; as well as local production capacity for these technologies are essential to saving lives. Ukraine urgently requires these capabilities.
This escalation comes amid intensified Russian air raids across Ukraine. Over the past two months, Moscow has launched nearly 500 drones daily at Ukrainian targets. Most of these drone attacks have occurred overnight. On July 9 (June 18),Kyiv reported an unprecedented strike involving 741 drones in a single night.
The surge in Russian attacks coincides with former U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement last Monday regarding NATO’s acquisition of Patriot missile defense systems and othre arms from Washington for kyiv under a new agreement. trump also warned Moscow that failure to reach a peace deal with Kyiv within 50 days would trigger 100 percent tariffs on Russia-and its trade partners would be subject to those tariffs as well.
