UN Warns: Gaza Facing Worst Hunger Crisis in Contemporary History
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, the UN Special Rapporteur on the right to food revealed to Al Jazeera the critical conditions in Gaza. He stated that what is happening there today represents one of the most severe cases of hunger and famine in recent history.
Expressing deep concern over child fatalities caused by extreme food shortages, he emphasized that Gaza’s humanitarian crisis is a direct result of Israel’s blockade preventing humanitarian aid from entering for over 20 months.
The UN official also warned that Israeli attacks on UN agencies constitute not only a clear violation of Security Council resolutions but also a direct assault on the entire international community.
