US State Department Official: We Are Ready for Direct Negotiations with Iran
The English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Forbes, reported that US State Department spokesperson Tami Bruce claimed the United States is ready for direct negotiations with Iran.
Responding to a question about whether the US has hopes for Iran’s imminent talks with three European countries scheduled for late this week in Istanbul, Bruce asserted: “As President Trump indicated, the Iranian people will benefit from negotiations conducted in good faith. The ball is in their court.”
Regarding whether the US has set an end-of-August deadline for Iran to return to negotiations and reach a nuclear agreement,Bruce said: “Iranian officials have an possibility to choose a path of peace and prosperity for their people. We are ready to negotiate directly with Iranians.”
The American diplomat also noted that the US maintains close coordination with it’s three European partners-France, Germany, and the United Kingdom.
This claim of willingness to negotiate comes while President Donald Trump continues to threaten renewed attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities.
