Wang Yi Urges South Korea to Pursue Independent Policy on Bilateral Relations
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and South China Morning Post, Wang Yi, China’s Foreign Minister, in his first official phone call with his new South Korean counterpart, called on Seoul to adopt an independent foreign policy.
The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that during the call with Cho Hyun, Wang Yi urged South Korea to establish a “stable, steady, and predictable” approach toward Beijing and deepen pragmatic cooperation.
South Korea’s yonhap News Agency reported that the two ministers spoke for about 45 minutes and emphasized their shared commitment to advancing the bilateral strategic partnership in a “sustainable and tangible” manner.
Yonhap quoted South Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs as saying both sides agreed to cooperate closely to ensure that the upcoming APEC summit in gyeongju serves as a new milestone in bilateral relations,producing concrete outcomes in practical cooperation felt by citizens of both countries.
