U.S. National Guard‍ forces have been ⁣deployed to Washington, D.C., by presidential order due to‌ a ​significant rise in crime rates in the capital.

The⁢ U.S. National Guard entered⁣ Washington, D.C., following ​instructions from President‌ Donald Trump, ​according to the ‌English⁤ section of⁣ webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and the Guardian.

yesterday, the President ordered the deployment of 800 National Guard troops to ​Washington, D.C., ⁣amid mounting concerns over​ sharply ⁢increasing crime rates in the capital.

Simultaneously occurring,Muriel Bowser,Mayor of Washington,D.C., pledged ‌her ⁤commitment ⁣alongside federal forces as the National Guard ⁣arrived. Speaking just as troops deployed, Bowser stated she would ‍cooperate fully⁣ with federal agencies in addressing public safety challenges.

After meeting with Assistant Attorney general Pam Bondi at the U.S. Department of Justice, Mayor Bowser told reporters she would not disclose operational details but confirmed that the‍ Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) would ‍work closely with⁤ federal personnel on coordinated efforts throughout ‌the city.

This follows earlier remarks‍ by President⁢ Trump highlighting what he ‍described as “horrific” increases in crime across Washington.He announced‍ that ‍deploying National Guard units⁣ aimed at “clearing out” drug ‍users, homeless populations, and migrants was necessary to ⁣restore order.

Trump said: ⁣”I am sending the‌ National Guard into our nation’s capital. Restoring security under⁢ federal police control‍ will⁢ help⁢ reduce crime rates substantially.⁤ Police ​will now be⁢ authorized to act decisively without ‌restrictions.”

He added: “The Metropolitan police Department will be⁢ placed under federal control and supported by National Guard forces committed to combating crime there. I will overhaul all relevant laws and expand police authority against criminals.”

The President⁤ declared an emergency situation due to ⁤escalating violence and insecurity in Washington and warned that‌ military intervention might become necessary if conditions worsen‍ further.

“There will ⁢be 800 National Guardsmen patrolling city‌ streets initially,” he ⁤continued.”We ⁣can increase those‌ numbers if required.” He compared local crime⁢ levels unfavorably elsewhere: “Crime‍ here is ⁢double or triple ⁤that found even in baghdad, Panama City Mexico City or Lima.”
