OCHA: Full Occupation of Gaza Will Trigger a Horrific Humanitarian Disaster
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has issued a statement warning that Israel’s plan to occupy Gaza will result in catastrophic humanitarian outcomes for the people of Gaza, according to Mehr News Agency citing the Palestine Data Center reported by webangah News agency.
According to OCHA’s statement regarding the occupied territories, approximately 86 percent of Gaza Strip territory is either under orders of forced evacuation or direct military control by the Israeli army. The remaining areas include parts of Gaza City and sections along the southern coast, which are densely populated and cannot meet even basic needs.
OCHA emphasized that concentrating Israeli military operations on Gaza City would create a humanitarian disaster. The population there already suffers from extreme exhaustion, malnutrition, displacement, loss of loved ones, and severe shortages of essential supplies.
The UN humanitarian coordination office added that forcing hundreds of thousands to move from northern Gaza to its south would amount to a new catastrophe and represent forced displacement.
OCHA also warned hospitals in southern Gaza are currently operating at several times their actual capacity. Transferring more patients from northern areas would lead to deadly consequences.
These conditions collectively indicate that implementing this Israeli plan risks pushing gaza toward total humanitarian collapse.
