UN and 21 Countries Oppose Settlement Construction in Occupied Jerusalem
The United Nations and foreign ministers from 21 countries condemned the Israeli regime’s plan to construct residential settlements in occupied East Jerusalem, according to the English section of webangah news Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera.
On Wednesday, Israel approved a settlement plan in the E1 area east of Jerusalem.The project aims to separate parts of the West Bank and prevent the formation of a contiguous Palestinian state.
Under this plan, wich will fully divide the northern West Bank from its southern part, 3,400 new housing units will be built for israeli settlers.
Binyamin Smotrich, Israel’s Minister of Finance, called the project “the final nail in the coffin” for the idea of establishing a Palestinian state.
