The report states that this meeting took place shortly before talks between the presidents of South Korea and the‌ United States. Seoul appears concerned about a potential setback ⁤during its‍ summit with then-President Donald Trump‍ and sought⁣ to ‌allay Washington’s doubts by holding talks with Tokyo ⁣officials.
