Ulyanov: Araqchi’s Assessment of European Actions “Highly Accurate

Russia’s representative to international organizations tweeted that Iran’s Foreign Minister’s assessment of European actions is⁣ “very accurate.”

Teh English ‌section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, reported that Russia’s⁣ representative to international organizations responded on Twitter to a recent message from iran’s ‍Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araqchi.

Mikhail⁤ Ulyanov posted on Twitter that the Iranian foreign minister’s evaluation ⁣of the⁣ Europeans’ actions is “very accurate.”

Araqchi had previously written in response to the‌ European countries’⁢ move: “Three european countries, representing israel and the United States, have deliberately chosen to⁣ increase pressure on the Iranian people. ‌This ill-considered measure – which Iran has strongly warned against – is unethical, unjustified, and illegal.”

He added: “The actions by thes three European countries ‌effectively benefit the aggressor and harm the victim. It was ⁣the United States-not⁣ Iran-that unilaterally withdrew from the‍ JCPOA in 2018 and reinstated sanctions. It was Europe-not Iran-that failed to uphold ‍its commitments to ‍mitigate ‍the economic impacts of America’s exit. Furthermore, Europe-not Iran-did not fulfill its obligations ‍on transfer day (October 2023)⁢ and instead imposed ⁣new illegal sanctions⁣ targeting Iran’s civil aviation⁣ industry and⁣ maritime⁤ transport.”

araqchi continued: “As I have⁣ stated clearly before, this decision by three European states will significantly harm diplomacy. it will⁣ severely weaken ‍ongoing⁢ talks between Iran and the ⁣International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and compel an appropriate reaction⁢ from Tehran.”

The Iranian foreign minister concluded: “If unchecked,Europe’s chosen path will severely damage the credibility of the UN Security Council.⁤ The use of so-called‍ snapback mechanisms without respect‍ for legal procedures or sound‌ legal basis not only undermines confidence in Security Council decisions⁢ but also threatens international ⁤peace and security. the time has ⁢come for both Security Council-and indeed-world leaders-to step forward and declare: ‘enough is enough.'”
