Nepal Riot Death Toll Rises to 51
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Sputnik, talks are ongoing between the president, protest representatives, and the military. The army has declared a curfew in an effort to restore order.
The casualties include at least 21 protesters, three police officers, and several prisoners who were killed during escape attempts.
The Nepalese army announced it has recovered over 100 firearms looted amid the riots.
Authorities also confirmed that more than 12,500 inmates escaped from multiple prisons across the country during the chaos.
Following a deepening political crisis sparked by government-imposed internet restrictions, Nepal’s international airport was closed and all flights canceled. Notably, these restrictions were lifted one day after internal protests intensified nationwide.
