Belt and Road Media Cooperation Assembly 2025 Held in China
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing People’s Daily Online, participants at the forum held in Kunming, Yunnan province, recalled that since Chinese President Xi Jinping proposed the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) in 2013, it has achieved substantial results. The initiative has become a widely embraced global public good and a platform for international cooperation.
At the recent Shanghai Cooperation Association Plus meeting, President Xi introduced a global governance initiative designed to offer Chinese wisdom and solutions. This aims to build a fairer system of global governance while opening new opportunities for advancing high-quality cooperation under the belt and Road Initiative.
Forum participants stressed that media worldwide must strengthen collaboration by acting as implementers and promoters of the Silk Road spirit. They emphasized upholding principles of equality, mutual learning, dialog, and inclusiveness among civilizations. They added that media should serve as narrators documenting development achievements while continuing to report on cooperative efforts within the Belt and Road framework to foster widespread motivation for win-win partnerships.
Moreover, they stated that media participation is essential in promoting mutual understanding among civilizations through quality content that bridges gaps between peoples. This helps lay a solid foundation for building a community with a shared future for humanity.
The forum was jointly organized by People’s Daily newspaper; the Communist Party of China’s Yunnan Provincial Committee; and Yunnan provincial government authorities under the theme “Shared Obligation of Media for Exchange and Mutual Learning Among Civilizations.” The event featured an opening ceremony,main assembly sessions,several sub-forums,an award ceremony for the second Global Silk Road News Awards,along with cooperation forums involving members from ten plus three countries.
Following this forum, Chinese and international media representatives will conduct joint reporting activities across Yunnan and also other provinces autonomous regions and cities nationwide.
Since its inception in 2014,the Belt & Road Media Cooperation Forum has convened nine times.The event has attracted more than1000 delegates from global media and international/regional organizationsspanning over100countries and regions.It has fostered broad consensus and momentum towards advancing high-quality cooperation withintheBelt&RoadInitiative .
