Reuters: Eight Days Left to Prevent Snapback Mechanism Activation
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, Reuters reported that Iran and European powers have eight more days to reach an agreement on delaying the enforcement of UN sanctions.
The report stated that on friday, the UN Security Council put forward a draft resolution seeking the permanent removal of sanctions on Iran, but it failed to secure the necessary support.
Russia, China, Pakistan, and Algeria were among those who voted in favor of this draft resolution.
This session took place after three European countries-Britain, France, and Germany-initiated a 30-day process on August 28 to reinstate UN sanctions against Iran.
The European trio claimed Tehran has not complied with the commitments under the 2015 nuclear agreement aimed at preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons-a claim consistently denied by Iranian officials.
