Syrian Embassy Reopens in the US After More Than 10 Years + Video

The Syrian Embassy in the United States⁤ has reopened in Washington, D.C.,for‍ the first time⁢ in over a decade.

According ⁢to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Anadolu Agency, assad Al-Shaibani, foreign⁣ minister⁣ of the Mohammad al-Julani regime, raised Syria’s flag above its embassy in Washington for the first time in more than​ ten years.

The ceremony was ‍attended by Syrians residing in the ‌U.S. This event took place nine months after Bashar al-Assad’s fall from ‍power.

The embassy‍ reopening⁢ occurred just days ‌before Abu ‌Muhammad al-Julani, leader of the terrorist group Hay’at tahrir al-Sham, arrived in New⁤ York to attend​ the annual⁣ United Nations General Assembly.

Following the flag-raising ceremony, ⁢Al-Shaibani described ‌this⁤ moment as “historic” and claimed it ‌symbolized the Syrian people’s struggle‍ throughout 14 years of civil war.

Al-Shaibani arrived in Washington last Thursday; ​this visit marks the first trip by a Syrian foreign minister to the United States in more than 25 years.

Bashar al-Assad, former president who ruled Syria for nearly 25 years, left Syria at the end of 2024 after terrorist ⁢attacks ‍on his regime and following losses of Aleppo, ‍Hama, Homs, ‍Daraa-and ultimately Damascus.

the Abu Muhammad al-Julani regime established​ a so-called transitional government within ‌Syria in January after Assad’s government fell.
