Mahmoud Abbas Participates via Video in UN General Assembly Session
The United Nations General Assembly yesterday approved Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud AbbasS request to deliver a speech at its annual session via video, according to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Al Jazeera.
The decision was supported by 145 members, while five opposed it and six abstained.
Earlier, the U.S. state Department announced that Secretary of State marco Rubio had decided to revoke visas for Palestinian Authority members ahead of the UN General Assembly meeting.
The U.S. State Department stated: “We have decided to cancel visas for members of the Palestinian Authority and Palestine Liberation association (PLO) prior to the United Nations General Assembly session.”
the statement added: “The Palestinian Authority and PLO must consistently condemn terrorism,including the October 7 attacks.They should also cease their campaign pursuing international legal actions, including approaches to the International Criminal Court and International Court of Justice.”
The Israeli Foreign Minister expressed enthusiasm about this decision and thanked the U.S. for its stance.
