Reactions to Three Countries Recognizing the Independent State of Palestine
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, the recognition of an independent State of Palestine by Canada, the UK, and Australia has prompted various responses.
Mahmoud Abbas: Recognizing Palestine is essential for moving toward peace
Mahmoud Abbas, President of the Palestinian Authority, welcomed the UK Prime Minister’s decision to recognize an independent and sovereign State of Palestine. He emphasized that this recognition represents a vital and necessary step toward achieving just and lasting peace based on legitimate international resolutions.
Hussein al-Sheikh,Deputy Chairman of the palestinian Authority,also reacted positively to recognition by these three countries. He described it as an international victory for justice against the suffering and repression faced by Palestinians.”The world triumphs for humanity, justice, peace, and peoples’ right to self-determination,” he stated.
Al-Sheikh added his gratitude toward the UK, Canada, and Australia for their recognition. He called it a historic day for Palestinian life and their legitimate rights.
Jordan welcomes move
The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement praising Britain’s, Canada’s, and Australia’s recognition of Palestine as honorable. The ministry said this aligns with growing international will to end occupation and uphold Palestinians’ inalienable right to establish their state based on a two-state solution.
The statement confirmed that this step reaffirms clear support for global efforts recognizing Palestine within 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. It reiterated adherence to legitimate UN resolutions alongside Arab Peace Initiative principles.
The ministry stressed Jordan’s unwavering position in cooperating with brothers and international partners supporting Palestinians’ rights-to freedom from occupation; founding an independent state; halting crimes against its people;and holding perpetrators accountable.
Oman: Recognition strengthens regional peace
The Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs praised Britain’s、不Canada’s,and Australia’s moves in a statement describing them as meaningful developments advancing two-state solution efforts while promoting security & peace throughout the region.
