China: Snapback Mechanism Against Iran Won’t Help Ease Disputes

China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson emphasized that triggering the “snapback mechanism” against⁣ Iran will not help reduce ‍tensions.

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and China’s⁢ Foreign Ministry website, ⁣spokesperson Gao Jianhong highlighted Beijing’s consistent support for a diplomatic solution to Iran’s nuclear issue.‍ He stressed that activating the ”snapback mechanism” will not contribute to easing disputes.

The chinese Foreign Ministry⁢ spokesperson ⁢stated that⁣ China remains committed to resolving Iran’s ‍nuclear issue through political ‌and diplomatic means.

He made these remarks in response to questions about the potential re-imposition of United Nations sanctions on Iran, underlining Beijing’s ‌opposition to⁤ any ⁤”threats involving force, sanctions, or pressure.”

Gao referred to actions taken by the European trio-Britain, France, and Germany-known as the “E3,” which triggered the snapback ⁢mechanism against Iran. He noted that⁣ activating this UN Security Council⁤ procedure is unconstructive and does not help rebuild trust‍ or reduce divisions among⁤ parties.‌ The current priority is strengthening diplomatic efforts and avoiding further escalation.

He added that China‍ will continue promoting dialog for peace and play a constructive role‍ in‍ finding a solution addressing all parties’ legitimate concerns.
