Zelensky: We Are Working on a “Big Deal” to Purchase Weapons from the United States
According to the english section of webangah News Agency, quoting Mehr News Agency and Politico, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that his country is working on a “major deal” to acquire weapons from the United States.
Speaking at a press conference in Kyiv,Zelensky stated that Ukraine has submitted detailed military requirements-including requests for long-range weapons systems-to then-President Donald trump.
“We have reviewed and agreed upon the main points with the president,” he said. “We are now moving toward implementing this agreement.”
Reports estimate the value of the proposed package at approximately $90 billion.
Zelensky added that Ukrainian officials plan to travel to the U.S.later this month or in October for technical talks regarding both arms purchases and a separate contract for drone production.
The Ukrainian president, who met with Trump last week on the sidelines of the united Nations General Assembly in New York, noted that he presented “a specific viewpoint on what can be done in response to russia’s actions in its war against Ukraine.”
Zelensky also emphasized that “everything Ukraine wants from America is clear. We delivered a request containing detailed explanations and visual documentation of what Ukraine seeks” to president Trump.
He continued: “We are ready for separate agreements concerning various types of weapons, including long-range systems. I cannot provide further details.”
