Kim Issues Cryptic Statement Following Seoul Report on North Korea’s Uranium Stockpile Increase

The recent remarks, released by North Korea’s Central News Agency just days after South Korea claimed Pyongyang amassed a notable quantity of weapons-grade enriched uranium, highlight a sharp rise in North Korea’s nuclear material stockpile.
At a military exhibition held prior to North Korea’s annual parade,Kim said: “I believe our enemies should be concerned about the direction their security posture is taking.”
He added that North Korea “will undoubtedly take further military actions to prepare for responding to an increase in US forces.” However, he did not provide additional details.
In recent weeks, Kim ordered senior officials to strengthen the country’s “nuclear shield and sword,” stressing that onyl a “reciprocal nuclear action” can guarantee national security.
Kim is set to lead a major military parade on October 10 marking the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Workers’ Party of Korea. The event is expected to showcase Pyongyang’s latest weapons and other military equipment.
South Korean news agency Yonhap reported analysts suggest Pyongyang may unveil its next-generation Hwasong-20 intercontinental ballistic missile during this parade.
