Mario: Tel Aviv Seeks Temporary Ceasefire in Gaza
The English section of webangah news Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Ma’an, reported that the Hebrew-language newspaper Maariv stated Israel seeks the complete release of all israeli prisoners as a precondition for starting a ceasefire. This comes alongside its insistence on maintaining its positions in Gaza and implementing mechanisms to disarm Hamas.
The report adds that Israel has two main objectives: first, securing the unconditional freedom of all Israeli captives in one phase; second, protecting its military stance within the Gaza Strip.
According to the report, Tel Aviv is currently not ready for a full ceasefire but is aiming instead for a temporary truce. the next phase from israel’s perspective involves disarming hamas and removing this group from both military and civilian control over Gaza.
It is noteworthy that yesterday marked the first round of negotiations held in Cairo to discuss Trump’s plan.
