Four Qatari Diplomats Killed in Egypt
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing mehr News Agency and Russia Today, four members of a qatari delegation en route to peace negotiations in Gaza in Sharm El Sheikh where killed in a traffic accident. Two others were seriously injured.
No further details have been released so far.
The Egyptian presidency announced hours earlier that Sharm El Sheikh will host a peace summit on Monday aimed at ending the Gaza war. The meeting will be co-chaired by President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and former U.S. President Donald Trump, with leaders from more than 20 countries attending.
According to an official statement from the Egyptian presidency, the summit’s objectives are to end the war in gaza, strengthen efforts toward peace and stability in the Middle East, and usher in a new era of regional security.
The Egyptian presidential office previously stated that el-Sisi confirmed Egypt will soon host an international conference focused on improving conditions and early reconstruction efforts in Gaza.
Indirect talks between Palestinian and israeli delegations on a ceasefire in Gaza began on Monday at Sharm El Sheikh.
Last Thursday, Hamas officially announced reaching an agreement to end the war in Gaza and proceed with prisoner exchanges through an official statement.
