Bassel: We Are Facing a Severe Shortage of Heavy Debris-Clearing Equipment

The spokesperson for Gaza’s Relief and Rescue‌ Institution announced that more than 250 bodies have been⁣ recovered from the rubble since the ceasefire. There is a severe ⁢shortage of heavy equipment for debris removal.

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, quoting Mehr news Agency, Mahmoud Bassal, spokesperson for Gaza’s Relief and Rescue Organization, told Al Jazeera that over 250 bodies have been pulled from beneath the rubble since the conflict paused, with some victims left abandoned in the streets.

He ⁤added that there is an acute shortage of heavy machinery‌ needed to clear debris and conduct searches among the ‍ruins. This scarcity ⁢has substantially slowed rescue operations.

Bassal also emphasized that more than 10,000 people remain⁢ trapped under destroyed buildings, and rescue teams lack adequate resources to reach them.

The spokesperson warned that remnants of war and unexploded ordnance pose a serious threat to civilians’ lives.

He called on the ⁤international community to urgently intervene by addressing these dangers and providing necessary relief equipment.
