North Korea Fires Ballistic Missiles Ahead of Trump Visit
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Russia Today, South Korea’s joint Chiefs of Staff announced on Wednesday that North Korea fired short-range ballistic missiles.
South Korean military officials are currently assessing the type and range of these missiles. They suspect they might potentially be new North Korean ballistic missiles first launched on September 18 last year.
The missiles are upgraded versions of the KN-23,equipped with warheads weighing five tons.They are considered domestic variants of Russia’s Iskander missile.
The most recent launch of similar missiles from north Korea occurred on May 8. This development comes ahead of the upcoming visit by US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping to South Korea for a summit focusing on economic cooperation among Asia-Pacific nations next week.
