European Union Fails to Utilize Russia’s Frozen Assets

European Union fails too reach agreement on using frozen Russian assets in Belgium.
The english section of webangah News agency, citing Mehr News Agency, reported that the European Union has failed to agree on the use of frozen Russian assets held in Belgium.
A reporter for Al Mayadeen network added that Belgium has refrained from accessing Russian assets in its banks due to fears of legal retaliation from Russia.
Earlier,Maria Zakharova,spokeswoman for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs,stated that the EU lacks legal mechanisms to seize Russian assets and described such seizures as a form of “theft.”
The European Commission had proposed using frozen Russian assets across Europe to provide a €140 billion compensation loan to Ukraine.
