The TBS network reported that a man armed with a knife attacked near the US Embassy in Japan’s capital, injuring a police officer.
The outlet stated that on Friday,authorities detained a man carrying a bladed weapon near the embassy.
Sources affiliated with the Japanese police confirmed that one riot control officer was wounded.
They did not disclose the extent of the officer’s injuries.
The motives behind the attack remain unclear.
This incident occurred ahead of Donald Trump’s meeting with senior japanese officials. Tokyo police have deployed special units to secure this visit.
