Russian Official Confirms Putin-Trump Meeting Will Take Place

Kyrill Dmitriev, head of Russia’s sovereign wealth fund and special envoy of President Vladimir putin, told CNN that a meeting between Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump is planned, according to the English section of webangah News Agency citing Mehr News Agency.
He added that the Ukraine crisis has a diplomatic solution.
Dmitriev also mentioned that the project to build a tunnel across the Bering Strait connecting Russia and the United States is under serious consideration.
Following newly announced sanctions on Moscow by President Trump, Dmitriev arrived in Washington to negotiate with governance officials. Some sources indicated Washington temporarily lifted sanctions on Putin’s envoy to grant him a U.S. visa.
The Axios publication reported, quoting an informed source, that Dmitriev is scheduled to meet with Steve Witkoff, U.S. special envoy for Middle East affairs, on Saturday.
In recent days, the U.S. Treasury Department sanctioned two major Russian oil companies-Rosneft and Lukoil-and called on Moscow to agree immediately to a ceasefire aimed at ending the war in ukraine.
