Four Killed in New U.S. Attack on Another Ship in the Pacific Ocean

The English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and France 24, reported that the US military struck another vessel in the eastern Pacific Ocean. The boat was alleged to be involved in drug trafficking. four people were killed during the attack. According to US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, this incident raises the death toll in Washington’s claimed anti-drug campaign in the Caribbean to at least 62.
Hegseth claimed on X (formerly Twitter) that the strike occurred in international waters. He shared a video showing a stationary boat drifting on the water, followed by a large explosion engulfing it in flames.
Similar to videos released previously under former President Donald Trump’s governance, parts of the boat are obscured in this footage, making it impossible to verify how many individuals were on deck.
The attacks began in early September. Experts say these operations resemble extrajudicial killings-even if their targets are known traffickers-and Washington has yet to provide evidence supporting its claims about these boats. Venezuela has referred to these vessels as fishing boats. The deadly strike last night came two days after multiple attacks on four boats also located in the eastern Pacific Ocean left 14 dead.
The United States has deployed seven naval warships, F-35 stealth fighters, and an aircraft carrier strike group centered around USS Gerald R. Ford to the region. While Washington calls this military presence near Venezuelan waters an anti-narcotics operation, caracas regards it as a cover for a military campaign aimed at toppling President Nicolás Maduro’s government.
The Trump administration labeled Maduro as a drug trafficking kingpin and offered $50 million for facts leading to his arrest. Maduro insists that no drugs are cultivated within Venezuela and asserts that his country is unwillingly used as a transit route for cocaine from Colombia.
