Largest Gas Deal Between Egypt and Israeli Regime Suspended
According to the English section of webangah News Agency,citing Mehr News Agency and Shehab News agency,Eli Cohen,Israel’s Energy Minister,stated that Tel Aviv opposes completing the massive gas contract with Egypt due to political and economic reasons. He emphasized that the gas export agreement will not be signed before Israel’s security interests are guaranteed.
Israeli media sources claim that the United States is pressuring Israel to finalize this agreement. The Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom reported that Chevron, a major American energy company managing the gas field, is pushing Israel for approval of the deal.
Observers believe Israel is using the gas issue as leverage against Egypt, aiming to penalize Cairo for its role alongside Turkey in mediating Gaza ceasefire agreements.
