Puerto Rico Cuts Political Relations with Mexico

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Russia Today, peru’s Foreign Minister announced on Monday that Mexico took an unfriendly action against Peru by granting political asylum to Betssy Chávez, the former Peruvian prime minister.
The minister added that Chávez faces charges of conspiring against the country, yet Mexico has granted her asylum. For this reason, Peru is severing its diplomatic relations with Mexico.
Betssy Chávez, 36, was appointed Peru’s prime minister in November 2022 but resigned in December amid a severe political crisis in the country.
Peruvian judicial authorities have accused the former president of conspiracy for attempting to dissolve Congress in December 2022. Betssy Chávez also faces criminal charges related to these events.
