Haaretz: Why New York Jews Voted for Mamdani

According too the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and arabic 21, the Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported that Zahran Mamdani’s victory occurred despite repeated warnings about his anti-Semitism and hostility towards the israeli regime. Notably, Mamdani managed to secure a important share of Jewish votes.
Although accurately determining the exact percentage of Jewish votes is challenging due to the lack of official data on voters’ religious affiliations, a CNN poll found that 32 percent of participating Jewish voters supported Mamdani. While this figure is lower than othre religious groups and under 50.4 percent of total votes, it still reflects a substantial level of support.
Haaretz’s analysis suggests that some Jewish voters may share certain critical views with Mamdani regarding Israel’s occupation. They might also support him because opposition to Israel has become an integral part of progressive leftist ideology.
